The Ministry of Transport had a workshop with stakeholders to undertake a holistic review of the 2008 National Transport Policy.
The current National Transport Policy was developed in 2008 during the era of H.E. President John Agyekum Kuffour to provide guidance for the holistic and strategic development of our Transport and Logistics Sector to support the Ghana Gateway project.
The vision of H. E. President Kuffour was to promote Ghana as the gateway to the sub-region for trade and foreign investments since trade depend greatly on efficient and effective transport system.
The Minister in charge of transport, Hon. Kwaku Ofori Asiamah said,” H. E. Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo understands the transport sector as having a critical role to play in the transformation and industrialization of the economy as well as the Ghana beyond aid agenda.”
From 23rd to 25th November, 2018, extensive consultations were held with the parliamentary select committees on Roads and Transport, Health, Education and other government institutions.
The final stage of the review process after this National Stakeholders workshop will be the submission of the drafted policy to cabinet for approval.
